Getting the right fit for your Xero Shoes
If you’ve ordered shoes…
Shoe fitting is more about personal preference than geometry - 3 people with identical feet, could try the same shoe, and they could have 3 different opinions about whether the shoe fits.
So, we recommend trying them on to see what you think. If you’re planning to wear your shoes with socks, try them on that way. If you want a more barefoot experience, you can try them in bare feet or with a very thin sock. You can also experiment with removing the sockliner (insole) for an even “more barefoot” experience or to help get your ideal fit.
If you ordered sandals…
Similarly, length is a bit of personal preference. Some people want their toes up to the front edge, some people like them slightly further back, and some people even wear their sandals so that their toes hang slightly over the front edge — it’s entirely up to you!
You can use the size guide below to get started, the cm measurements are for your foot length so you can find your UK size needed. Check out the fit advice on the product page, some of our styles may require sizing up or down - this is based on our customer feedback to help guide you to the best fit.
Men
- All of our men’s shoes are wider than conventional men’s shoes. If you normally wear a larger size to get a wider fit in conventional shoes, you may not have to do that with Xero Shoes.
- Natural materials (like leather or canvas) may stretch during initial wear.
- If you think of your foot as particularly narrow, you can consider ordering a women’s style. Many of our male customers find a great fit in our women’s styles.
- Our men's and women's shoes are very similar, the difference will be the width. The men's version will have an extra 1/4-1/8" width compared to the women's version. Our shoes are designed wide (almost EE in the toe box) to allow the foot to flex and bend naturally.
- If you would like to try a narrower fit, you can size up half a size in a womens styles - use the womens UK size listed in the narrower fit column below (WUK for women's UK size to order).
- People like different types of fit — some like their toes near the end, others like 0.5 cm – 1.5 cm of extra space, if so then you can look to order the next size up.

Beautiful shoes!
"They are perfect for spring! I can't stop staring at them when I walk along because they look just like I'd hoped. To start with, though, the backs cut into my achilles on both feet, but since I’ve taken the insoles out (and let the cuts heal for two weeks) they have been totally fine, and honestly I prefer to have more ground feel anyway. I was so worried I'd have to send them back, but I'm glad I persevered."
