Genesis sandals come pre-laced but you can find the perfect fit in seconds using our patent-pending tension adjustment system. The huaraches-inspired lacing goes around your entire foot, so you don’t feel the toe loop. The Genesis also features a nylon Achilles strap with Silicone grip to hold on securely and comfortably.

Figuring out sizing is never easy. That’s why we also have FREE EXCHANGES. Most people find our size recommendation gives them a proper fit, but just in case, we have a free exchange program for all UK orders.

For Men looking to buy the Women’s version because it is narrower – the conversion rate is 1 times, e.g. a Men’s 7 is a Women’s 8.

Caring for your Xero Shoes

To clean your Xero Shoes, hand wash with warm water, mild soap and allow them to air dry.
We do not recommend putting your Xeros in the washing machine or dryer.

FAQs

Why don’t you use leather or hemp laces?

You can use almost anything for lacing huaraches.

In my testing, though, I found some issues with hemp and leather that I didn’t like:

Both leather and hemp tended to stretch, especially when moist
Both leather and hemp tighten and stiffen when they dry
Both leather and hemp wear out faster than our polyester laces
Leather is much more expensive
Most leather laces are rectangular, and the edges can dig into your skin
Leather isn’t vegan (for those who care about that)
Leather and hemp don’t give you as many fun colour choices

The 100% polyester cord we use is strong, light, and doesn’t stretch or tighten, especially when wet.

Also, I prefer the “slip-on” method of tying which works best with a round lace, rather than a flat one (like leather).

Needless to say, you can replace the lace we send you with whatever you like.

Good but needs some improvement still

I had high expectations for these sandals after reading reviews and really wanted them to be right for me. I love the concept and the thin soles offer proprio sensory feedback but with good protection and the minimalist cord straps are great. The reason they're not for me is because they just are not 'foot' shaped enough especially for a seasoned bare barefoot shoe wearer as your toes especially big toe will naturally more out. The footbed area only accommodates squashed big toes used to wearing traditional shoes. Also the toe post was a bit too far forwards and even when I tried the next size up it seemed to be in the same place which doesn’t make sense to me as you'd expect a proportionate change to the size. Definitely a good product for the average person I would imagine and worth a try but I hope Xero take this feedback on board for future designs. Also would be fantastic if they sold the sandal making version of this sandal in the UK as people could get the perfect fit then.

Mixed experience

Overall it has been like an abusive relationship. I really love them. They cause me pain. So far, every time I try them for maybe a 30 min stroll I get blisters that last a few weeks until I can try again. Hopefully things will improve. In conclusion, the quote that xero have on their website about your feet being comfortable at the end of the day must have either been from someone who never wore these, or had been wearing them for years. I'm hoping that my feet will get used to them in time, but the first few months has been pain every use!

Too much flop made me flip

Bought these with the intention of basically living in them all summer but it's not to be. They are a bit of a faff to set up and for me I find that my big toe easily slips off the soleas the lace between the toes doesn't really stop the shoe moving left to right. The heel strap is quite uncomfortable as well and it has to be done up really tight to stop it rubbing. On top of this the sole is so floppy you will constantly catch the toe edge on the group as it flops away from your foot when you walk. I tried trimming mine as Xero suggest to stop this but it still happens and now I catch my toes on the ground as the leading edge digs in to the dirt. So now I've cut them which presumably means I can return them I had such high hopes for these but I just cannot recommend them I'm afraid. £45 wasted.

My favourite sandals

These are really comfortable. Once adjusted they can be slipped om and off without a problem. I love the feel of the ground under them and that they allow my feet to move and breathe. Rapidly becoming a Xero only guy!

Great ‘barefoot’ sandal

Bought these as a replacement for a similar pair by another company that got chewed up by dogs while I was on holiday, which I’d absolutely loved. As always with new thongs/sandals it took a couple of walks to get used to the new points of contact where the feet meet the straps, but now I’m absolutely loving them. Been wearing barefoot style shoes exclusively for well over a decade now, and my feet are in so much better health than before I transitioned. Thanks for the great products, Xero!
