“I love them! Super lightweight. Feels like there is room for my toes to spread out while the rest of my foot is held securely in place.” – Lucas D.
Tens of thousands of Xero Shoes customers loved the Mesa Trail’s combination of lightweight comfort and trail-gripping security.
The Mesa Trail II improves on that with more rugged, durable, and protective welded components on the upper, a breathable mesh, and a moisture-wicking lining that’s ready for wherever you take it.
Alex L., Verified Mesa Trail II CustomerThe Mesa Trail II is even better than the original! It feels grippier on different trail surfaces, and is one of the lightest trail runners out there.
You’ll love hitting the trails with this “just right” balance of lightweight comfort and trail-gripping security. The Mesa Trail II is even lighter than the original.
The adjustable midfoot and instep straps hug this trail runner snugly to your foot. The thin, durable toe cap and tough sidewall welding work hard to give you added protection.
Our patented FeelTrue™ sole features 3.5mm lugs for optimal traction. Enjoy how our 3.5mm TrailFoam™ layer evens out the bumps during your trail run.

These are my third pair of Mesa Trails (one OG pair and a previous pair of Trail IIs). I love them, I got this pair straight out of the box, put them on and went for a 22 mile training run, my feet are absolutely fine. The previous pair of Trail IIs went on Leg 5 supporting a BGR as a first run - feet pristine at the end. The very first pair I got out of the box and went on a 36 mile trail race - my feet were also fine then. I wore my previous pair of these into the ground (literally, they had zero tread left on the soles). The newer slightly longer softer laces are now just the right length to tie a double knot without loads of floppy lace left over and they have just enough stretch for comfort while maintaining the shoe in position on your foot. As a lady even with quite narrow feet, I use the mens' shoes for that lovely roomy toebox and have never had any rubbing, toe-end blisters or nail issues while using these shoes. I have quite shallow feet, so they do tend to get holes at the sides where they crease over my toes, but only after a few hundred miles, which I think is fair. The only way to make them better is if I could still get my hands on a red pair in the UK.
Bought these after reading and watching the videos about how the toebox was toe shaped so toes aren't squashed in. Unfortunately these shoes have the narrowest toe box of any shoes I've ever bought, despite going up half a size on my usual size and they are very uncomfortable. If I had narrower feet I'd be very happy with them.
Great as far as helping foot pain from low arches and plantar fasciitis but just not durable enough for myself.
Looking forward to trying these shoes out but wanted to share my sizing experience in case it helped others. Initially assumed 'true to size' (size UK9/43) but seemed small. Comparing insoles with my Vivobarefoot trail shoes confirmed this. Just received the 9.5/43.5 and these fit OK. Again, comparing insoles with the Vivo UK9/43 confirmed the Xero Mesa UK9.5/43.5 to be identical. So, from my experience, would recommend going up a UK half size to get your normal fit. I have high expectations of these shoes and shall update my review in due course.
The shoes are great- comfortable and great on difficult terrain with a heavy pack if you like trekking - I wore them trekking in Iceland for a week with a 20kg pack and didn't get a single blister or hotspot. When I later got a problem with the sole delaminating they were very helpful with resolving the issue so the customer service is great too!
